Last year I had just turned 39, had my first kid getting ready to move across the country (he’s back and planning to leave again – OH THE ROLLER COASTER that motherhood takes us on), and my sisterand her kids had moved back to the east coast (they are back in Texas now too – woohoo) and I was just in a bit of a rut….and ain’t nobody my age got time for baby fever. SOOO we got a puppy instead. He was 25lbs of pure sweetness when we got him at 9 weeks old. He now weighs in at a solid 80lbs. I think he’s about as big as he’s going to get. He was 1 back in February and my 15 yr old daughter, Isabelle and I decided to take 1st birthday cake smash photos. This is why homeschooling at my house is dangerous. She’s the only one homeschooled right now and we interrupt her school day for crazy shenanigans like puppy photos and Tex Mex lunch dates.
Anyway…here is Jed. Jed was the name that they gave him at the rescue shelter and I thought it was just fitting. Jed is a lover. He especially loves me. He is a ‘pyrador’ – part Lab/part great pyreneese. He is crazy smart and just plain crazy. When we got him, he was already crate trained and housebroken. I don’t know a lot about dogs but I think it’s odd for a puppy to be completely housebroken and crate trained by 9 weeks!! He is still very much a puppy and we are working with him on not jumping on us as we walk in the door and him biting my arm when he wants me to pet him.
You can check out the Abandoned Animal Rescue here. They were magnificient with Jed because he had already been taught a great deal before we ever got him and he was still such a young puppy.
